Kelso road work on North First Avenue starts today.

The project will close the road near Americas Best Value Inn, the city reported.

Longview will flush its water mains Friday — city crews will work on the project to ensure the water system remains reliable.

PeaceHealth's St. John Medical Center has not paid city business and occupation taxes since 2010 due to an administrative oversight from consolidating its finance offices.

City staff and hospital executives say resolving the unpaid taxes—estimated at about $400,000 per year—will take weeks while council considers removing hospital tax exemptions at the Aug. 26 meeting.
