Good morning, Longview.

Lois Smith is named the new United Way executive director—bringing over 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience.

She will use her expertise to strengthen local programs and support community needs.

The project to replace the 108-year-old I-5 Bridge cleared another funding hurdle today after separate votes approved its plan.

It is funded with $2.1 billion from the federal government, $1 billion each from Washington and Oregon, and will add $1.2 billion in future toll revenue — a key step toward moving the project forward.

Washington state has approved funds for park improvements at Longview's Cloney Park and Kelso's Riverside Park and will buy land near Mount St. Helens to protect elk habitat—additional sites are also on the list.
