  • Cowlitz County began roadwork Tuesday on Tower, Rose Valley and Sightly roads.  The Daily News Longview
  • Longview Fire Chief Brad Hannig outlined plans for a voter initiative to move the fire department from the city budget into its own district with a tax levy that would fund a new fire station, engine and extra staff on the November 2026 ballot. The proposal could add nearly $6 million a year but faces challenges from high consultant costs and union holdouts — the council is set to review the plan by the end of July.  The Daily News Longview
